I Used My Own Meal Prep Brand… And Still Didn’t Lose Weight

Yes, you read the title correctly.

I ate Prepnourish meals and still didn't lose weight. The same structured low-calorie meals we recommend to clients, and I still didn't lose weight.

But before we get into name-calling... let me explain 😅

I Used My Own Meal Prep Brand… And Still Didn’t Lose Weight

I started 2026 really disciplined. I followed my meal plan properly for 2 straight weeks, no distractions, no random snacking, just structured and portioned meals, and I lost so much weight that I was bragging to my friends, "The Prepnourish effect", I called it. Right there was enough proof that structured eating works. Things were going according to plan.

Then, something changed...

When the Environment Shifted

A friend of mine came around. Now, this friend is a big fan of pizza. And he always bought this Jollof rice that, when it's opened, the whole house starts smelling like a party.

On the first day, I ignored it, saying to myself, I'm locked in!! No temptation can push me away from my goals.

By the third day, I was asking myself, "Henry, one bite would not hurt now.... Right?"

Next thing I knew, I was taking an unplanned cheat day and wondering how I got there.

Not because the meal plan failed or because structured eating does not work. The reason was that my environment was influenced.

The Truth about Structure and Environment

Here's what we don't talk about enough:

Structure works.

But structure without environmental control? Willpower gets tired...

You can have the perfect meal plan, but if:

  • Temptation lives on your dining table.

  • High-calorie food is always within reach.

  • Your surroundings constantly trigger cravings.

You're forcing your willpower to fight a daily battle. And willpower is not infinite.

This isn't about blaming friends, it's about acknowledging reality.

Your environment influences your behaviour more than motivation ever will.

The Reason Many People Fall Off

Most people don't fail because their plan was bad.

They fail because their environment changes. A girlfriend coming over, a visiting friend, a birthday party. And instead of adjusting their structure around the environment, they abandon the system entirely.

One bite becomes a weekend, a weekend becomes "I will resume next month", and the cycle repeats.

What I Changed Instead

So, instead of blaming the meal plan, I had to be honest with myself. The problem wasn't the structure of my meals. The problem was the structure of my environment.

If temptation constantly lives within reach, even the best meal plan will eventually be tested.

So, I made a few adjustments:

  • Removing unnecessary temptation from my immediate environment.

  • Keeping structured meals visible and accessible.

  • Being more intentional about when and how I indulge.

Because the goal isn't to eliminate enjoyment from food. It's to remove friction from healthy decisions.

The Real Lesson

The lesson wasn't "Meal prep doesn't work"; the lesson was "Structure must extend beyond the plate". And it includes:

  • What's in your house

  • What's visible on your table

  • What you say yes to

  • What you allow in your environment

Structured eating works, but structured living works better. And that's the shift.

If you've fallen off your plan recently, you're not alone. And NO, you do not need a new diet. You may need a stronger system and a better environment.

Sometimes, progress isn't about trying harder. It's about designing better.
